Cash Position (green line): your own cash back in the deal, week by week. The down payment plus every weekly payment collected, minus your all-in cost (auction plus recon). It crosses $0 at Cash back by, the week you have your money back.

Loss If Default (red line): what you would be out if the borrower stops paying that week and you repossess. Your remaining exposure (all-in, minus down, minus the payments collected so far) plus repo and recon cost, minus what the car brings at auction. It ends at Default-safe by, the week a repo stops costing you.

Auction recovery (an estimate, not a real balance): we assume the car loses about 0.6% of its value each week on the lot, and that a repo resells for your recovery percentage of that faded value. This only feeds the loss estimate. It never touches a borrower balance or the ledger.

Ask for X down (the backward solver): set the most you will accept losing on a default, and we return the smallest down payment that keeps the worst-case default (at signing) within that limit.

Deferred down (pickups): extra payments collected shortly after signing. They lower the amount financed and the payment like more down, but only cut your loss-if-default from the week you actually collect them, so they never protect a signing-day default.

Payment frequency: the loan is modeled weekly; this just shows the payment at the cadence you quote (biweekly, semi-monthly, monthly). The total collected, curves, and profit are the same loan either way.

Sales tax (optional, state base rate): rolled into the amount financed, so it raises the weekly payment and shifts the curves. It is a pass-through you remit to the state, so it is netted out of gross profit (you keep the interest earned on it, not the tax itself). Illustrative state rate only, confirm before quoting.
